Mary Tyler Moore statue in Minneapolis Bre McGee

She’s a local icon because she worked for Mr. Grant at a fictitious Minneapolis TV station and famously tossed her beret into the sky. So there’s a statue to commemorate that hat toss by the woman who turned the world on with her smile. Her Minneapolis abode was real, too, and you can visit it on the third floor of 2104 Kenwood Pkwy., Mpls., but she never spent time there in real life.
