Parade at Winter Carnival

St. Paul Winter Carnival

Downtown St. Paul
Parade at Winter Carnival David Joles

A tradition that dates back to 1886, this 17-day fest is typically the Twin Cities’ biggest nose-thumber to winter. Events happen in parks and event centers around the capital city, with highlights including the Moon Glow Parade (6 p.m. Jan. 25), the King Borealis Grand Day Parade (2 p.m. Jan. 27) and even a seven-story ice castle in Rice Park. Most events are free.
