Described as Viking lawn bowling, kubb (pronounced “koob”) is an ancient Scandinavian game that involves strategically pitching sticks at other pieces of wood on a pitch of turf — or ice.
On Jan. 27, Captain Ken’s Kubb Tournament, the “largest winter tournament in the world,” will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the northwest shore of Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. Newcomers are invited give it a try on practice pitches.
