Jumping into freezing water
Jumping into freezing water Brian Peterson

Every winter, about 15,000 Minnesotans don their bathing suits and wade or dive into an icy lake. The event, called a Polar Plunge, raises money for Special Olympics Minnesota. All you’ll need is the $75 fundraising fee, shoes, a swimsuit, a towel and dry clothes to change into after you’re done..

Polar Plunges are scheduled on Jan. 27 at Ramsey Beach (5050 Lake Av. N., White Bear Lake); Jan. 28 and Feb. 3 at the Vulcan Snow Park (State Fairgrounds, 1265 Snelling Av. N., Falcon Heights); and Feb. 3 at Fish Lake Regional Park (14900 Bass Lake Road, Maple Grove).
